Procure Spot founder Matthew Armour was pleased to attend the annual Pathfinders Pumpkin Run which started in Armidale and ended at Government House in support of the not-for-profit organisation and long-term client of Procure Spot.

“Last Thursday was an incredible day as I had the privilege and honour of being invited to Government House to celebrate the conclusion of the Pathfinders Pumpkin Run 2023. It’s been an absolute joy for us to be a strategic partner of Pathfinders since 2017, and we are consistently amazed by the unwavering dedication of this remarkable organisation” -Matthew.

The Pumpkin Run project was created by Pathfinders to support life skills programs for at-risk young people. Young people are encouraged to gain agricultural skills, work experience, and a sense of community by growing and harvesting a crop of pumpkins.

The young people associated with Pathfinders have the opportunity to cultivate and harvest pumpkins on their farm, Tilbuster Station, located in Armidale. They embark on an annual run, making stops at various soup kitchens along the way. During these visits, the young participants learn the art of making soup and pumpkin lasagne, fostering valuable skills and experiences. The journey culminates at Government House, where the Governor General delivers an address, and a delightful morning tea is prepared using some of the harvested pumpkins.

What’s truly remarkable is that they (Pathfinders) have accomplished all of this without any external funding. It’s truly inspiring to collaborate with an organisation whose values align so closely with our own” – Matthew.

A record-breaking 15 tonnes of pumpkins was grown this year, and all is donated to charities and community groups to assist with food relief.
