Individual Values and Belief Policy

The Individual Values and Belief Policy ensure that the cultural, spiritual, and personal values and beliefs of each NDIS participant are recognised, respected, and upheld in service delivery. The Individual Values and Belief Policy promote dignity, inclusion, and person-centered practice. 

The Individual Values and Belief Policy support NDIS providers to comply with the NDIS Practice Standards by ensuring that supports are delivered in a way that is free from discrimination and respects the diversity of all participants. The Individual Values and Belief Policy acknowledge that each participant’s values and beliefs shape their identity and choices. 

The Individual Values and Belief Policy include: 

• commitment to respecting individual values, beliefs, culture, religion, and spirituality, 
• processes for identifying and documenting each participant’s values and beliefs, 
• guidance for staff on delivering supports that align with participant preferences, 
• strategies for supporting participants to practice their beliefs and maintain cultural connections,
• procedures for addressing conflicts between personal values and service delivery, and 
• training for staff on cultural competence and inclusive practice.
