Cyber threats – Protecting your information assets

Matthew Armour, founder of Procure Spot, undertook a 6-hour round trip to Canberra, spending just 1.5 hours in our nation’s capital, to deliver a ten-minute keynote at the University of Canberra in February 2024.

The occasion? The launch of “Navigating Australian Cyber Security Standards and Frameworks,” a comprehensive handbook to assist Australian smaller businesses know what cyber security is, what information assets need to be protected from cyber threats and how to improve their cyber security.

Representing Pathfinders Ltd and Procure Spot Pty Ltd, Matthew had the honour of acknowledging the hard work of the research team, including: Assistant Professor Dr Rosetta Romano (PhD), Associate Professor Blooma John, Dr Abu Barkat ullah, PhD, Dr Richa Awasthy, and Marcus Jowsey. Their commitment is shaping the future of cyber security in Australia.

Matthew describes the opportunity, “to network with some of the brightest minds in the field, albeit briefly, was incredibly rewarding”.

A huge shout out to everyone involved, especially George Hlaing CISSP, ISSAP, CISA for his outstanding role as MC, and for making this event a milestone in our collective journey towards a safer digital Australia.

We would love to hear from any SMEs, Not for Profit organisations who might be willing to lend us 30 minutes of your time to assist the future of this work. Please let me know in the comments.
