Port Macquarie Hastings Council
Procure Spot was engaged by Port Macquarie Hastings Council in 2022 to conduct an efficiency and effectiveness review of all organisational processes, including procurement and civil works.
A primary objective of our work was to improve the performance of their development application (DA) process. We achieved this objective by utilising our three-phased Improvement Model.
The model commences with Process Discovery, which involved conducting an audit and mapping of the current state process at the council. Outlining the current state process allowed us to identify existing issues and potential efficiency gains.
In the next phase, Process Design, we facilitated workshops with council staff and stakeholders to design an optimal future state process and to test the feasibility of the identified productivity gains. The result of this phase was to create a re-engineered future state process that would improve efficiency and productivity.
In the final phase of the model, Process Implementation, we worked with the council to implement the re-engineered future state process effectively and sustainably. We also assisted the council to transition from manual systems to a digital planning system to enhance further efficiencies. Â
As a result of our work with the council, Council was able to integrate their process into the NSW Government’s Planning Portal and was successful in improving the performance of the DA process significantly.
